Meet the Cast

Around 154 people make up the cast of this amazing production of Joseph .

Here is a taster of the many talents that the directors have managed to bring together.

Principals

Narrator Lisa Armetta Before entering the Brussels am-dram scene in 1999, this native Chicagoan did most of her singing in the car on the way to work. Since moving from the Volkswagen to the stage, she's been an active member of the Brussels Light Opera Company, Hot Air vocal ensemble, Marlis Productions and several other close harmony groups. Lisa's Brussels credits include Aya to Zubbediya in Kismet, the Duchess of Plaza-Toro in The Gondoliers , Erma in Anything Goes! and the Narrator in the 2004 production of Joseph. It's a thrill and privilege to relive the Joseph experience with Green Parrot.

Joseph

Andrew Pimm Andrew touched down in Belgium in 1994 and is a regular principal singer with The Brussels Light Opera Company having appeared in shows such as The Pirates of Penzance, La Vie Parisienne, HMS Pinafore, Kismet, The Gondoliers and most recently, Anything Goes. Andrew has also featured as a soloist in works by Bach, Handel, Haydn and Mozart with The International Chorale of Brussels under the experienced baton of Pam Clements MBE. In 2004, he played Joseph, in BLOC’s hugely successful production of Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and is delighted to have the chance to do it all over again - although the costume is getting a bit tighter! Andrew is married to Jane McBride and they have three children, David, Lucy and appropriately, baby Jacob.
Jacob Derek Roberts Since moving to Brussels in the 70s, Derek has performed in a variety of musical ensembles, ranging from Gilbert and Sullivan and barbershop to the Brussels Choral Society. Alongside his singing, he is a prolific writer of light and occasional verse and has recently collaborated with Scottish composer Tom Cunningham on a series of song cycles commissioned by the National Youth Choir of Scotland.
Rueben Peter Mountain Peter usually tries to corner the market in old cranky parts such as the Carpenter’s Mate in HMS Pinafore, Old Man Carnes in Oklahoma, Njegus in The Merry Widow. A short break from type casting followed as the Captain in Anything Goes, but back to form as the grumpiest brother in Joseph. He also enjoys singing with Hot Air and particularly likes singing bass in barbershop groups.
Simeon Richard Wells Richard has directed a number productions in Brussels including The Dresser, Agnes of God and When we are Married. Acting credits include Humphrey Bogart in Play it again Sam, Brendan Bracken in Double Cross and Sparky in Serjeant Musgrave's Dance. He appeared as Sowerberry in Oliver! (2006) and Simeon in the 2004 production of Joseph. He is a professional voice-over and presenter.
Levi Myles Lawlor Myles is currently 16 and has been passionate about performing and singing on stage ever since 7th grade. He has appeared in several full-length productions, the most recent being An Italian Straw Hat. Initially cast as a guard in Joseph, luck was on his side and he was gradually “promoted” to Levi. He has enjoyed his first off-campus production with the Joseph crew and is looking forward to many others
Napthali Luke Tilden

Luke is no stranger to Joseph. Indeed, many moons ago he was cast by his twin sister in the role of Joseph in a family production which, hampered by a total cast of five, sadly never made it past the second rehearsal. Now, after a 20+ year spell in the wilderness, Luke is looking forward to resurrecting (or killing off) his thespian career as a brother.

Isaachar
&
Pharoah

Nabil Khazzaka Nabil has a taste for all kinds of music. After studying piano, singing and classical harmony, he went to Cork to follow courses in Irish traditional singing and “uillean pipes”. Then in 2007 he took “stages” in French and African polyphonic singing. Nabil has sung in a variety of choirs and bands with repertoire ranging from avant-garde to classical and pop and is a well known performer and singer-songwriter.
Asher Peter Lemerle Peter began in the Mikado chorus in 1985 and has since worked on and off stage, taking a wide variety of parts as well as producing and stage managing. His performance as the back end of an Ishmaelite camel in Joseph 2004 convinced the director that his was a talent worthy of greater exposure in Joseph 2008, although threatening to withdraw domestic support for six months may also have influenced the casting decision.
Dan Edward Smith Edward, 15, is taking his first few steps into the adult musical world as Dan. His previous theatre experience is limited to appearing as one of the school children in the 2004 performance of Joseph, and helping with front of house for various other performances. He is looking forward to a bright future in the world of musical theatre
Zebulun (& Apache dancer) Barry Keegan Barry started singing on stage at 17 with the Coolock Musical Society before taking lessons at the Royal Irish Academy. In the Eighties, while living in England he took part in various Gilbert and Sullivan operettas and Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor. A former member of the Kraainem Folk group, Barry now sings with Lynne Thomas in the vocal duo VoxNuda.
Gad Michael Grennek With a tennis racket in one hand and an ace bandage on some body part, Mike will nevertheless be well enough to take part in Joseph this year. He "doubled up" his theatre activities this past autumn, rehearsing for Joseph and also appearing in Dracula. Apart from theatre and sports Mike is a committed Christian, growing in maturity and living his faith. In his spare time, he attends Brussels American School where he is a junior.
Benjamin Tom Kavvadias

Tom began his career on the Brussels stage in 2005 as Falstaff's boy in Shakespeare's Henry IV and Henry V. He decided to branch out into musical theatre and was a member of Fagin's Gang in the 2006 production of Oliver. He looks forward to the challenge of playing Benjamin in Joseph.

Judah Euan Ralston A native of Scotland, Euan has re-discovered the joys of the stage since arriving in Belgium, first through the role of Mr Paravachini in The Mousetrap.  He has played a variety of roles in the BSB Pantomime, the highlight being Dame Constance Noring in the 2006 production of Robin Hood!  Euan also participates in the Spring in to Comedy variety productions and appeared as the Baker and a guard in the 2004 production of Joseph.
Calypso Singer John Baldwin A graduate in graphic design and illustration, John works in Brussels as an artist. He also trained as an opera singer and has played Figaro, Escamillo and various roles with The English National Opera's educational programme. In 2007 he performed in BLOC on Broadway, played Launce in The Two Gentlemen of Verona and was Ko-Ko in BLOC's recent prodcution of The Mikado.
Potiphar Alec Burnside A survivor of the 2004 Joseph , Alec reprises his role as Potiphar. Since in the meantime he was also Workhouse Governor in the 2006 Oliver! , his agent (alright, his  wife) worries he will become typecast as a greedy tyrant .  But, says Alec: The chance of wearing a kilt on stage again was too good to resist.
Mrs Potiphar Jenny Clarkson Jenny has lived in Belgium since she was 7 and now lives in Brussels with her partner Karoly and their son, Kai. She's been in many productions with various theatre groups since she was little  - more often than not in dancing roles. Her most recent shows are BLOC's production of Joseph in 2004, which she helped to choreograph and where she played a wife and a cheerleader, and Yantra's dance show in 2002 where she performed as a belly dancer.
The Butler
(& Brother in Canaan Days)
Peter De Schepper Peter is from Ghent and has been singing since he was 6 years old. He obtained certificates in music theory, singing, vocal ensemble and a first prize in lyrical art. Besides classical works he loves musicals and played the role of Naphtali in the 2004 BLOC production of Joseph.  Peter is also a member of the vocal ensemble Hot Air and loves to sing gospel, jazzy, barbershop and even rock 'n' roll numbers.
La Boulangère (& lady of the court) Brenda Aaroy Brenda hails from Belfast and has lived in Brussels for two years with her Norwegian husband, Lars-Erik and daughters Anna and Maria. Although she has sung with various folk groups over the years and by the fireside with Lars-Erik, this production marks her debut on the musical stage. She is reluctant to reveal her age, but feels that she has the right amount of maturity and experience for the role of baker.
Apache Dancer Kathy Lemerle Kathy comes originally from a little town called Angola in New York State. Since moving to Brussels in 1987, she has gathered loads of experience in school productions and in Brussels amateur theatre groups both on stage and off. From designing and making costumes for various shows to directing Joseph, Kismet and Rock Whittington for BLOC, from choreographing belly dancers to playing the Queen in the Jarrett School's ballet production of The Sleeping Beauty, Kathy has been around the stage more than once. Kathy's inspired direction of the 2006 production of Oliver! is a clear illustration of her sense of what it takes to turn a show into a real “spectacle”.
